Operation “No Squished Snacks”

First camping trip of the rodeo season…

My sister called and said “we want to go to the Cheyenne rodeo, let’s camp after!”

My first gut reaction is “heck ya!” The second is “ugh packing for a family of 6 and 20+ bulls is work.”

I called Shug and he said “let’s go!”

He’s so good at making things seamless and easy.

We know to make our lifestyle work we both need to give 💯. We are committed to preserving this way of life and are willing to work for it.

Last year we bought a semi with bunk bed sleepers. It was perfect for us except for the lack of storage and really didn’t meet our kitchen needs. But we made plans on building shelves and getting a mini fridge to make it work.

Well, God provided an opportunity for us to buy a different semi a couple of weeks ago with those needs filled.

It was an answer to my prayers of making our rodeo season easier. I told Shug

“I don’t care what we ride in as long as we don’t have squished snacks!”

I’m so over preparing and getting organized just to have a couple of excited cowboys hop in the truck and step all over our freshly packed snacks.

The Lord went above and beyond with this unexpected blessing. We have space, storage and a kitchenette!

So here we are.

On our way back from our first camping trip in the Semi. I think she needs a name. Have any ideas?  Send them!

Overall it was great!  We learned some lessons (like we need a mattress, extra pillows and heavier blankets.). Our backs hurt today… But we are ready to do it again in 3 days ;)

We are looking forward to more camping trips this summer, weaving rodeo and personal fun together.

I’m also looking forward to saving money on hotels and eating out while being on the rodeo. Sometimes it feels harder to pack food, plan and prepare but in the long run

it’s better for our family.

Not just saving money but I believe serving my family well is important. I feel a sense of responsibility to make sure my family is well fed, with nutritious, homemade food. It’s a constant passion and struggle for me.

Something I’m always striving to be better at but I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be able to serve my family.

For good health, for good energy, and for the opportunity of rodeo to be able to do it.

Cheers to no more squished snacks (hopefully 🤞🏼),

better organization and lifelong memories!
